English Tradition

Many kinds of expressions of the Orthodox Faith can be found in the Orthodox Church: Arabic, Greek, Russian, etc. St. Botolph’s worships uniquely in the English tradition of our fathers before us. For those who come from an Anglican or Roman Catholic background, our worship and style will feel very familiar. We invite you to look into the English expression of Catholic Orthodoxy here at St. Botolph’s.

Orthodox Faith

As Orthodox Christians, we trace our faith and heritage back to Our Lord and His apostles themselves. We, with the rest of the Orthodox Churches in the world, trust in Our Lord’s promise and His finished work of salvation, believing and professing the same faith ‘which was once delivered unto the saints’ (Jude 3).

Catholic Witness

The worship at St. Botolph’s is traditional and catholic. That is, we worship and live as our fathers have worshiped and lived throughout the centuries, praying the prayers they did and worshiping as Christians always have.

“We Orthodox teach that we are the one, holy, Catholic church. We must not then force the whole world to become Eastern in order to enter the true Church and be saved! The faith must be one, and Orthodox, but its expression has always been suited to the races and nations which accepted Christ.”

— Metropolitan Anthony (Bashir) on the Western Rite
